POWER

POWER

Out of complete boredom, I started watching atomic bombs exploding on youtube.  I know, a little weird.  Anyway, I got to thinking just how much "POWER" is out there.  It is amazing how powerful a bomb man has created.
My boredom continued so I started looking at tidal waves.  I saw water absolutely destroy entire cities.  I even saw one guy surfing on a 10 story wave.  I am not sure if he is brave or stupid.  However, again I was really impressed with the "POWER" of the ocean.
To continue my search for excitement I started looking at video of tornadoes.  These bad boys were literally  lifting houses off of foundations.  That was amazing "POWER"
I then got to thinking that as powerful as these things are they can not even compare to the POWER of God.  God is the creator of tornadoes and controls them with a flick of his big ol' pinky.  He even has "POWER" over things such as cancer and every other kind of sickness there is.
In Mark 5:25-34 you see a story of a woman who experienced the "POWER" of God.  She figured out not only does God have "POWER," but God will allow his people to plug into that "POWER" and use it.  However this story also shows that there is a process that must be followed in order to plug into God's Powersource.
The first step is comming to a place where you are desperate for the "POWER" of God.  In verses 25-26 you see that she had gone to doctors and spent all she had to try and find relief from this disease that was torturinng her.  She went to every source of power she could think of and it just made things worse.  She finally came to a place in her life where she was going to  put all her faith in God.  She was going to finally rely on the one powersource strong enough to cure her, God. This begs the question.  Where are you looking to be cured?  We may not have a terminal disease, but we do have a sickness called sin.  These days mankind is looking to so many sources to cure this disease.  We turn to relationships, drugs, pornography, government,  and even food to try and get a relief from the burden that sin is laying on us.  Why don't we just get desperate for God and use His "POWER" to give us relief.  Why don't we fall down before Jesus and reach out for the hymm of His robe.
The second step to plugging into this power is determination.  Keep in mind that this woman was a very sick woman.  I know when I am sick it is difficult for me to even get out of bed, but this lady got up and traveled on foot, in great pain, to get to Jesus.  She was not gonna let some excruciating pain stop her from getting to Jesus.  She ignored the fact that she has been bleeding for 12 years and was tremendously weak.  It did not matter to her.  She was going to get to Jesus and get cured of this agony.  How determined are you to get to Jesus' robe.  Are you determined enough to give up that boyfriend/girlfriend that is holding you back?  Are you determined enough to accept persecution from so called friends?  Are you determined enough to give up certain music?  You may say yes, but the real answer is in your actions.  The lady in the story proved her determination, will you?
The last step is to be devout.  After she had made it to Jesus, and was healed, Jesus looked around and said, "Who touched me."  Risking ridicule and punishment the lady fell down before Jesus and told Him the whole story in front of the entire crowd.  She was unclean and it was against the law for her to touch anybody let alone the Son of God.  Admitting to touching someone could have gotten her in jail or worse.  However, she was devout and trembling at the same time as she talked to Jesus.  Jesus then told her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well.  Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction."  Do not be afraid to act on faith, and even share your faith, because as you can clearly see, that action will always be rewarded.
  In Love,
  Pastor Kyle
