Dating.

Posted On: 04/10/2012 Current Mood: loving everyone

I'm always being asked relationship advice. Which is remotely hilerous to me because I've made the decision to quit dating. I can already see some of your reactions to that "*gasp* but how?"

Well story time kiddos! I've been through a lot of different kinds of "relationships": the physical kind, the emotional kind, the vengeful kind, the short and sweet kind, and the rip-your-heart-out-because-your-oh-so-in-love kind. Then God brought me to the realization that he has SO much more for me than that and if I don't focus on him then I will never get what he has for me.

Sure, it get's difficult but once I quit dating and let God rule over my life. I am seeing so many amazing things take place. Doors are being opened. I can have REAL friendships with males. I can hang out in a group of Christian friends without drama. Once I made a concious effort to stop "looking" for a mate, God started showing me what life is about.

Besides why date? Isn't the goal to get married? Are you ready for marriage? Are you ready to commit to ONE person for the rest of your life and move in with them? Are you able to balance a check book? Do you know what work is?

The person you are supposed to marry is supposed to be your best friend. How long is the longest friendship you have had? (not including on and off agains) If you can't committ to the friends you have now how can you committ to a partner?

1 Corinthians 13:8

Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

If you date then your just giving your heart away to others. Your heart is supposed to belong to God and the person whom you will marry. If you keep dating and giving it to those of which is is not supposed to be for then what will you have left?

I encourage you to examine your life. God will send you that person in HIS timing. Don't throw you treasure to those that it's not meant for. You are called to live a higher life with so much more to offer!
