Do you ever look at yourself and feel like there's so much you can change? (I don't mean sin and junk in your life because that should be changed.)
I mean like this:
"I'm not pretty enough."
"I'm awkward."
"I'm clumsy."
"Why don't people like me enough?"
"I'm fat."
"I'm too skinny."
The list goes on unfortunately. I've struggled with all of those in myself (except being to skinny. lol) But the funny thing is. No matter how much "imperfections" you see in yourself God see's something different. He see's beauty. He doesn't see you as a mess up or as any of those things we beat ourselves up with. He see's us as the finished product.
I used to be angry at myself for my clumsiness and get so embarrassed but God taught me to not take myself so seriously. I have two examples:
1.) When I was in Jr. High I went roller skating with my best friend, at the time. I was gliding along the heavely polished floor with ease and then suddenly I saw a cute guy looking at me. As soon as I noticed that, my clumsiness had set in, my wheel caught on a loose board and down I went. I was so embarrassed that I got up and skated away crying. I was humilated and he was LAUGHING. I didn't feel loved at all. I feel discouraged. But despite how I felt, God still loved me. He still saw a marvelous creation.
2.) Yesterday I was helping my church sort books from a HUGE box (Yes it was taller than me) and putting them in smaller boxes in catagorys. Well the other 3 people helping me were each older than I. I wanted to be respectful and move the books from the hard to reach place to where they could get to them. Unfortunately, the hard to reach place was taller than me so I had to climb on a wood pallet to reach them. I though "Wow I'm doing good reaching these! Must. Reach. Farther!" All the sudden I toppled over into the box head first! Books flew and EVERYONE laughed, including me. ^_^ Then I tried to climb out of the box and crashed again to the ground. Instead of being angry or embarrassed with myself for pulling such a clutz move, I embraced it. God made me that way. Sure I'd LOVE to have more grace but I'm beautiful how I am.
Each one of you have things you'd love to change but I want you to start embracing who you are. God himself hand-crafted you. He placed certain traits in you and he LOVES you so much. To him your an awesome creation. To him your not just beautiful but gorgeous! I can't emphasize that enough. You are so beloved. It's time you start telling yourself that. Speak it! Realize it! Mean it! Start learning to love yourself!
Luke 12:7 (NKJV) "But the very hairs of your head are numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are more value than many sparrows."
Hebrews 6:9 (NKJV) "But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner."

| Apr 25, 2012 4:07 am So true:) I actually enjoy being a clutz sometimes lol! I love seeing people smile or laugh :D makes me smile Posted in response to: Wow! This is so true! I think we notice our own flaws more than others do. More often than not, when we are confident and accept the things that we think are so horrible (like tripping...I've fallen backwards tripping on nothing before. Lol.), others don't notice and might even like that about us. |

| Apr 25, 2012 2:38 am Wow!! Thats so true... I can totally relate to that about thinking I'm not pretty enough or beautiful, or fat and all that. That is part of what's leading me to do what I'm doing and the choices I'm making. That is very well said... Just GREAT!!! Thanks for posting it :) |
