Stories behind the Songs

Below are testimonies on how some of our songs came to be.

One Cross Three Nails.
This song was written after spotting a small tag line in our church bulletin that read "1 Cross + 3 Nails = 4Given." I mentioned to my wife there is a song there in those words!

Not Alone
This was given to me by the Lord while I was meditating and praying. I received a very special feeling that I am never alone while I am with Him! I then asked my sister in Christ, Renee to sing it and man did she nail this song! It has become a much requested song among our congregation.

Completely
This was written as a personal testimony of mine to prove that Jesus is my all in all and is complete in my life no matter where I am or what I am doing, whether on a long & dusty road or a stormy sea.

On Angels Wings
This is a dream inspired song that came to me as I pondered my flight into heaven. I thought how cool it would be to ride up to heaven on an angels wing.

If Only In My Dreams
This song came to me during a dream and was a true event in my life. I was sleeping soundly one night after my wife came home from suffering a terrible accident and I was worrying how I could go on and be a care giver for her. God woke me up at 2:00 AM and clearly told me not to worry. He said that I am to take care of Deanna and He would take care of the rest. I gave it all to Him that night and our life has gotten more bearable because of that small still voice. Praise God!

A Man Called Jesus.
This was a song that was inspired from a message preached by our Pastor, Ron Thayer about a man called Jesus. It just had to be put to song!

My King
This is a song I wrote while I had an urge to write. I had a tune for it, but lacked words. As I prayed I began to meditate on the Lord and a small still voice came over me and said "I am your king." The words just wrote themselves from that point. Jesus was reminding me that He is my King and I give Him all the glory and credit due unto Him.

I Believe
This was written as a personal reminder that no matter what happens in life, if we only believe in Jesus and His power, we will overcome anything this dying world can throw our way.

New Jerusalem
This song was inspired from our Wednesday night Bible Study in the Book of Revelation. When Christ returns to earth and brings with Him the New Jerusalem!

Mountains and Valleys
This was a learning lesson that during the course of our life, it sometimes brings us to the top of a mountain or down to the depths of a valley, where things seem hopeless. We must always remind ourselves that Jesus is right there with us and will help us get to the next mountain top!

I Will Live For You Today
A self explanatory song to tell the Lord that even though I have walked many years without Him, or thought of Him first, I am always bound by His grace and mercy and will live for Him every day!

In Every Moment
This song was actually inspired by a brother in Christ, Paul Rivera. He tags his emails with the following quote:

In happy moments - praise God
In difficult moments - seek God
In quiet moments - worship God
In painful moments - trust God
In every moment - thank God!

What Do You Reach For
This song came to me upon our church beginning a Celebrate Recovery Program. I often think of it as a theme song for those who are seeking recovery from the things that bring them down.

Everybody Sing
I wanted to write an uplifting and easy to sing to Praise song. This song has caught on with our church family.

Echoes In The Darkness
This song was inspired from Psalm 139:8-12 after reading a devotion about how we will often ask God, "what if the Lord...?"

The Open Door
This song was co-written by me and my son, Jeremy. We brought it to church and play it as a church anthem.

My Friend
Another song from Jeremy and me. This song reminds us all that Jesus has done for us.

I Will Follow
One of the 4 songs Jeremy and I wrote. This was one of the very first songs we wrote together. No matter where we are, either here on earth or in heaven, Jesus will always be with us and we will always follow Him!

Here I Am Lord
This song was another sermon inspired song. It came from the Book of Acts when Annanias was sent by God to go to the Street called Straight and heal Paul who was blinded by the Lord on the road to Damascus. We need to have the same conviction of obedience as Annanias did, even when we are doubtful.

Oh Heavenly Father
This prayer time song was written witha 50's style beat.

Welcome Home
I wrote this as a semi-testimony of my time when I walked away from God and how He took me back.

As I Give
I wrote this as an offertory song. The key line in this song is that all we have belongs to God Almighty!
